Intermittent Fasting and Keto Diet: 24 Hour Fast

Here is a look at a day in the life; balancing 24 hour intermittent fasting and keto eating. This is what intermittent fasting and the keto lifestyle have done for my weight loss journey. Fasting is also a great way to help your body and mind heal during your weight loss journey.

While fasting, you will also want to stay hydrated. This can really keep you feeling full and help you in your fasting journey. I absolutely LOVE Pique Green Tea Crystals. This is a product recommended to me by Dr. Fong. It is delicious and so easy for on the go.

What I did During my Fast

What I personally like to do while fasting is keep busy. Ideally, I would love to be able to just fast and be present in the moment. But, I’m not there yet, and that’s okay. For me, it is all about what you are able to do. What do you feel comfortable with?

I own several businesses. One of which gives back to local animal shelters. So an activity that I love doing PUPPY YOGA! It really helps me feel relaxed and centered.

I also had a dentist appointment, a business meeting and editing for my YouTube channel. As a very busy person I have lots to do in a day and so have had to master multitasking.

Breaking my Fast and Eating Ketogenic

After fasting for 24 hours, it’s time to break your fast. Keep in mind that eating after fasting is going to cause a spike in your insulin. It just is. The key is to eat a high fat, moderate protein, low carb meal. This really will help reduce that spike and help to heal your insulin. If you eat high protein or high carb right after fasting, it can actually cause that spike to be higher. This can cause health issues or even damage to your body.

So what did I eat to break my fast? So, first of all, I had an awesome date night with my husband and an absolutely delicious ketogenic meal. I had 2 curry chicken wings, a romaine lettuce Caesar salad with Caesar dressing, Parmesan cheese and radishes (and NO croutons of course). And a juicy rib-eye and green beans. We had a great time and I was completely satiated after my meal.

Another thing to consider when breaking your fast is portions. You want to listen to your body and have portions that work for you.

Intermittent Fasting, Keto Eating and Exercising

After my meal, I was ready to get home and exercise. Studies have shown that it is actually best to do your exercise while on your fast. But, again, this is a work in progress for me. I find, personally, what works for me right now is doing my weight lifting either right after breaking my fast or about 2 hours after starting my fast. My goal is to be able to switch that at some point. But I’m not there yet. And that’s okay.
