What Can You Have During a Fast? And What Breaks A Fast?

I follow Dr Fung as he is the “Daddy Of Fasting”, as I call him…haha.

He is scientific with his methods and personally, I want science based methods.  On page 254 of Dr Fung’s book, The Complete Guide To Fasting, of what you can add to coffee, decaf or tea (1 tablespoon) of:
-Coconut oil 
-MCT oil
-Butter
-Ghee
-Heavy Whipping Cream (slows down autophagy or lessen it)
-Cinnamon
-Lemon not squeezed
-Apple Cider Vinegar
-Pink Himalayan salt

  • You can have 1 tablespoon of fat from the above list in 1 cup of coffee, water, tea or decaf up to six time a day.

 

  • Bone broth will slow down autophagy or lessen it due to the protein in it like heavy whipping cream.

 

  • Sweeteners break fast.
    • For example, you will break your fast if you have a Diet Coke, Sugar Free Red Bull or Zero Powerade.
