50 Lb Weight Loss – What I Would Tell Myself 50 Lbs Ago

Having lost 50 pounds, I was thinking today as I was sweating on the elliptical what I would have told myself 50 lbs ago. While I am still on the weight loss journey and still have 50 pounds more to go, I’ve learned a TON!  Here are my – What would I tell myself 50 pounds ago?

1. Don’t hid.  Even if you hid it, people who care about you still see it.

2. Love yourself even being 100 pounds overweight.  THIS is part of the process. Changing the weight it not going to change what is inside.

3. Continue to work with a spiritual adviser and doctor for rape recovery counseling and sexual abuse.  The deep trauma continues to need healing from a professional.  Being “Polly Positive” will not make deep-rooted trauma go away.

4. Wear sunscreen. No seriously. Put it on even if you are tired. 

5. Find what brings you joy…joy in body movement, joy in relationships, joy in work….joy. What brings you joy? True, pure joy.  Continue to figure out who you really are.

6. And along those lines, be honest, open and authentic with the people that count.  The wall can come down for the real relationships.

7. Wear fake eyelashes! They are so fun and easy.

8. Continue to order Pellegrino & Perrier for water even when your husband flips out about the 4 cases on your porch….you’ll figure out how to budget for it.  It’s so good and a healthy beverage for weight loss.

9. Enjoy meal prep. Seriously, you will really learn to love this part about self care.  As your sister says, there is meditation in chopping vegetables. Find the peace in the tomatoes – LOL!

10. Be grateful. Your body has been so good to you even when you have not been so good to it. Be grateful for it every day

11. Focus on love and compassion. Love and compassion. Love and compassion.
