10 Tips On How I Lost 50 Lbs

Keeping It Real

WOW. What a ride the past week has been!  Can we chat over a cup of BPC? I want to be real and authentic like I would with a real girlfriend/Countess.

The past week has brought some exciting things….some of you know that I’m in preproduction for a tv show, book deal for my other business while running Countess of Low Carb.  I’m just got the call I will be going to LA in Feb.  Also, Countess of Low Carb shot up to over 1,300 subscribers (say whaaaaat?!) on Youtube.  A family health issue that has me focused on the future.  I’m joyful, excited…and also very nervous.  So much so that I want to retreat. I want to pull the covers over my head.

As I’ve lost 50 lbs and have another 50 lbs to lose this year, I don’t have my old crutch…food.  I can’t turn to that ‘friend’ anymore for comfort or solace. Instead, I’m finding myself facing my emotions and dealing with them…and sometimes not dealing with them.  Just because I’m a vlogger and bloggers doesn’t mean I’m perfect.  I ate chocolates this week out of emotions…in bed…while pulling the covers over my head.  My 2 year old still isn’t sleeping well in the chronicles of no 2 year old sleep for the 45th straight day (not that I’m counting).  No sleep coupled with nervousness coupled with no food crutch coupled with a ton of new friends has me a little out of sorts.

What I do know from my 50 lb weight loss is the only way through this weight loss thing is love and compassion. If I’m not giving myself love and compassion, how can I expect anyone to give it to me? Beating myself up isn’t going to make the weight drop, but loving myself enough to take care of it will.  Feeling the feelings I’m having right now is what I have to…MUST…do for my weight loss.  I can’t stuff anymore. Even the nervousness, anxiousness, excitement, fun, sadness and all the emotions that have come the past 7 days.

With these human feelings, I get the privilege to feel every.single.one.of.them.  Even the ones that are hard. Especially the ones that are hard.  I’ve found myself wanting to drown out the noise and seek comfort in my higher power.  To me, that voice is the most important one. (Psalm 29 is some good stuff if you want to get recentered.)  That is the loving and compassion part again. The creator of love is the voice the I need to hear. And that helps to stop all the noise and recenter on the beam of life.

This week I’m vowing to myself to feel my emotions and not eat over it. To continue to have love and compassion even when I’m scared or nervous.  You all have inspired me more than you will know. I’m so grateful to be on this journey with you. xxoo

Goals for 2018

I love goal setting! This time of year brings me such joy thinking about my intentions for next year personally, with my family and my businesses.  It helps me get super clear of new habits that are/are not working in my life, ways to be a better person and HOW to do it.

 My honey and I started goal setting over a decade ago in a small red notebook. We listed my intentions that year and for our upcoming dreams in the next 5 years. Never in a million years would I think they would all come true!  Some of our goals came quickly and some took years, but it enabled my first company, Doodlebug Dog Walker, to be one of the top 1% in pet care with 60-80 team members and caring for thousands of pets!  I digress.  This blog is about keto, low carb and losing weight and not my other businesses…but do you see the power in goal setting?

Along the way of my goals, I consistently put my businesses and family goals before my personal health.  2017 showed me my health and caring for my body is so important.  After losing 50 lbs in 2017, I’m going to do a repeat of losing another 50-75 lbs in 2018! 

Here are my goals:

Personal:

  • Lose 50-75 lbs through weekly keto meal plans, meal prep and eating keto.
  • Move my body 6 days a week through dog walks, organization workouts, boxing, gym time and weight lifting.
  • Increase spiritual time with morning devotions and see spiritual/life friends 3 times per week at church and outings.
  • Have date day/night once a week with my honey to connect in his love language and my love language.
  • Focus in on reading time with our son each day and being fully present in my time with my son.
  • Be intentional in rest and having quiet time….slow down sister!
  • Go to the beach 2-3 weeks in 2018.

Financial:

  • Contribute $___ to our son’s college fund and start a savings account for his elementary school fund.
  • Grow our ___ account to ____.
  • Continue to utilize and research further tax codes with CPA’s help for businesses.
  • Donate $___ to our favorite charities (WAAAG & Homeward Trails Animal Rescue) and be present for God wink opportunities.
